The External Link allows you to launch another iOS App or a web link in Safari on your iPad directly from the iDetail iOS App. 

Steps to create a New External Link content item

1. Open the iDetail Web Service - https://<your-organization>.idetailapp.com

2. Select the Builder from the top navigation

3. Select the Manage Content link

4. Choose the app you want to update from the Application dropdown list (if your organization has more than one iOS app)

5. Select the New External Link button

6. A dialog box will appear to select the link type

7. Select a supported app from the dropdown list, or Select App/Web Link 

8. Enter the address

9. The syntax for iOS Apps is: <app-name>:// 
   Example: message://

10. The syntax for a web link is: https://<website name>

The External Link feature has support for the following Apps:

• Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

• Apple iBooks

• Apple Keynote

• iOS Mail

• Microsoft Excel

• Microsoft PowerPoint

• Microsoft Word

Notes

The External Link content item has all the same functions as any other content item.

• It appears as an icon on the grid view

• You can add attachments

• You can add team members

• You can set Publish and Expiration dates

• You can add a custom thumbnail
